AGRITEX® Tree Root Protection System

Urban trees are frequently planted in restrictive pits with poor subgrade conditions, leading to suppressed root expansion and frequent pavement upheaval. The fundamental challenge is to reconcile vigorous tree growth with uncompromised surface stability. AGRITEX® addresses this through engineered load-bearing soil systems that deliver both the structural integrity required for pavements and the uncompromised soil volume essential for sustained root development. By creating an interconnected matrix of supportive soil architecture, the selected geosynthetics ensure adequate aeration, drainage, and nutrient flow, transforming constrained urban spaces into viable growing environments.

Tree Root System
The Tree Root Protection geocell system enables non-invasive installation, preserving existing root architecture throughout construction. TerraWeb® streamlines deployment, shortens project schedules, and often substantially curtails the volume of imported aggregate required—delivering measurable cost savings and a lighter environmental footprint.

Supplied in folded panels that expand to 6m × 4m, TerraWeb® is available in 100mm, 150mm, and 200mm depths. Once positioned, panels are secured with steel pins, forming a stable, load-bearing matrix.

Structural performance derives from stone confinement within the cellular network, yet unlike conventional methods, this is achieved without mechanical compaction, preserving full permeability. Manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) strips joined by cross-welding, the cells can also be perforated to facilitate lateral airflow and moisture migration throughout the system.

Landscape construction routinely involves transitions between disparate soil types, and at these junctions, a reliable separation layer is indispensable. Although natural alternatives like clay can sometimes be utilized, engineered textiles typically deliver greater spatial and economic efficiency.

The AGRITEX® geotextile and geogrid portfolios are methodically selected to satisfy precise functional demands—reducing ecological disturbance while sustaining healthy root and shoot development, with no compromise to the performance of growing media or filtration layers. Offerings include fabrics engineered to increase the load-bearing capacity of soil cell systems, mitigate differential settlement in sub-base layers, and ensure uniform water dispersal, as well as biodegradable filtration mats intended to slowly reintegrate into the soil matrix. Every specification is chosen to accomplish its designated role completely, while keeping expenditures to a minimum.
